The World Orca Day is coming! We’re excited to shine a spotlight on OrcaTorch and how these marine mammals have inspired our approach to dive lights. We sat down with our CEO Carson Weng, to discuss the parallels between orcas and our dive lights.

What does OrcaTorch do?

OrcaTorch is a world-leading brand in dive lights. We focus on giving professional divers, explorers, and ocean lovers reliable, high-performance, and innovative dive lights. Our lineup includes recreational dive torches, underwater video lights, and technical diving lights. They're known for being super waterproof, lasting a really long time, and being tough as nails. We want to help people discover the secrets of the deep while staying mindful of the environment.

What inspired you to name the company OrcaTorch?

The name was inspired by the ocean’s top predator—the orca. Orcas are known for their smarts, teamwork, and incredible adaptability. They can navigate deep waters with precision and hunt efficiently.
“Orca” stands for our products being tough and reliable, just like these amazing animals, able to handle extreme underwater conditions with ease.
“Torch” means light and guidance. It’s about helping divers see and explore the unknown depths.
Our brand name brings together the power of nature and a mission of technology, sharing a vision of “explore without limits, light up the deep.”

As we celebrate World Orca Day, what do you think we can learn from orcas to help us in diving industry?

Orcas are true “survival experts” in the deep sea, and they actually give us some important lessons for diving gear:

  • Efficient energy management: Orcas optimize their energy on long migrations. That inspired us to develop extra-long-lasting battery tech.
  • Environmental adaptability: They’re found all over the world’s oceans, pushing us to design lights that can handle cold temperatures and high pressure.
  • Teamwork: Just like orcas rely on group coordination, divers need trust and communication. Our dive lights are designed for flexible configurations, enhancing user convenience.
  • Ecological protection: Orcas are a sign of ocean health. At OrcaTorch, we’re committed to eco-friendly design that reduces our impact underwater.

World Orca Day is a good reminder that tech and nature need to work together. The future of diving should be smarter, more sustainable, and respectful of the ocean—that’s what OrcaTorch is all about.
